Vivekananda’s birth anniversary celebrated at Pasighat

14 January 2013 Pasighat - With rest part of the country, the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated at Berung village near Pasighat with various programmes on Saturday.

The day-long programme organized under the aegis of Donyi-Polo Vidya Nikentan, Talom Rukbo Nagar and Berung Upper Primary School was attended by parents, students, Gaon Burahs and PRI members of Rani, Panchmaile, Berung villages besides the local villagers.

Speaking on the occasion, Bogong block ZPM Okom Yosung highlighted the tremendous contributions of Swami Vivekananda in awakening the youth and a sense of nationalism. He narrated that Swamiji charmed the whole world with his knowledge and threw light on Swamiji’s triumph in Chicago. He said that when Swamiji went to Chicago to participate in the world parliament of religions he met many American intellectuals and spoke his vision for end of violence and fenatism.

Yosung, who is the president of East Siang unit of Adi Bane Kebang (ABK) acknowledged the selfless service rendered by Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalayas (VKV) to the people of Arunachal by imparting quality education and creating human resources. Stressing on “emancipation of Indian women, he opined that women should be given proper education for the development of the societies.
In his welcome address, headmaster of Berung Upper Primary School Onyo Rome urged the student community to follow the Swamiji’s ideology to make a better future.

Teacher of Oyan VKV School Rajendra Kumar briefed the life history of Vivekanda and suggested the parents to take proper care of their children.
