This year, Swami Vivekananda Sardhashata Ayojan Samiti, Kolkata had taken a unique initiative "Vivekanada Sharad Puraskar", to encourage the enthusiasm of Durga-Puja committees.
Puja committees, who had created theme on Swami Vivekananda, were invited to contact Vivekananda
Kendra, Kolkata through e-mail, over phone or come to Kendra directly. Advertisement was published in the popular dailies and several popular websites, inviting the Puja Committees to participate in ‘Vivekanada Sarad Purasker’.
Swami Vivekananda Sardh Shati team had visited several Puja pandals in and around Kolkata. Puja committees of other districts were requested to send two video clippings, in day and night look, along with four still photographs and one page write-up about their theme.
The Prize Distribution Ceremony was held on 21st December 2012 at The Vivekananda Society (151 Vivekananda Road, Kolkata, West Bengal 700006) in the vibrant presence of Swami Purnatmananda Ji Maharaj (President, Ramakrishna Mission Swami Vivekananda’s Ancestral House and Cultural Centre), Shri Sanjib Chattopadhyay (eminent writer and Swami Vivekananda researcher) and Shri Kishore Tokekar (Joint General Secretary, Vivekananda Kendra).
A documentary presentation was screened to portray the emotions of Bengali community about Swami Vivekananda expressed during their biggest festival, Durga Puja.
Swami Vivekananda Sardhashata Samaroha Samiti was announced also from the same event.
Then an effort was taken for worldwide distribution of the documentary on Vivekananda Sharad Puraskar_2012 held in Kolkata, India on last 21st december 2012 (complete DVD in four parts below):
