10 January 2013 Kanpur - To commemorate the 150th anniversary of
Swami Vivekananda, the Vivekananda Samiti, a student body of IIT-Kanpur
is organising Vivekanand Youth Leadership Convention from January 10 to
January 16.
The convention aims to spread Swami Vivekananda's inspirational
message of inner awakening, human excellence and the spirit of serving
the mankind, among the youth of India.
Rahul Jagtap and Shubhadip Mitra of IIT-Kanpur informed that the
convention comprises of talks by eminent personalities on socially
relevant themes and competitive events of literary, creative and
intelluctual nature for school and college students and also ground
level community service initiatives by students of IIT-Kanpur.
They also informed that the distinguished speakers include Kiran
Bedi, first woman IPS and renowned social activist, Dr Raju Narayana
Swamy, IAS with exceptional academic credentials and anti-corruption
activist, Sandeep Maheshwari, Sandeep Pandey, Ramon Magsaysay Awardee,
Param Vir Chakra recipient Yogendra Singh Yadav, Amitabh Thakur, IPS,
Raviraj Singh, senior advocate in Allahabad high court, Dharam Vir,
State Election Commissioner, Haryana and Swami Shastrajnananda, Vice
Principal, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandir, Belur.Events like quiz on
Indian Culture and Heritage, extempore, painting and essay writing with
participation from over 25 schools and college level competitions like
Youth Leadership Challenge, Kaun Banega Champion, Creative Writing and
Workshop on Leadership and Soft Skills will be held.
