Bharat Jago Run by Bharat Vikas Parishad Powai Chandivali on 1st Sept

The 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda (Swami Vivekananda Sardh Shati Samaroh) is being organised throughout the world in year 2013. During Swamiji’s life time & during first half of the following century Swamiji’s messages and life has awakened the nationalistic feeling, social reformation, education and spiritual awareness. Swamiji further inspired many Indians to participate in freedom movement.

During 1963, nation witnessed many nationalistic movements. This was the time when the nation celebrated Swamiji’ birth centenary. During this celebration nation came together and build Vivekananda Rock Memorial at the confluence of three seas and after that spirituality oriented service mission Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari came into existence. It functions through many branches and service projects.

Swami Vivekananda Sardh Shati Samaroh (150th Anniversary) is third wave of such inspiring activity. As part of this activity Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP) Powai Chandivali organized a 3.3 kms Bharat Jago Run in Hiranandani Garden Powai on Sunday 1st September 2013. The run started at 7.30 am at Heritage Park and finished there after going through Cliff Avenue, Ridge Street, Main Street and Central Avenue. More than 300 citizen and youth of Hiranandani and surrounding area participated in the run. The run was flagged off by Actor Mukesh Rishi. Participants were wearing special T shirt of Swami Vivekananda.

BVP volunteers, Powai police, Powai RTO & traffic, Hiranandani administration & security and Hiranandani citizens worked together in smooth organization of the run. Water stations were put up along the route. 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners were facilitated and given the prizes after the finish of run at 8.15 am. The program came to an end with singing of National Anthem.
